Opera GX is a unique browser developed specifically for gamers. The first of its kind, this gaming browser delivers a design deeply rooted in gaming esthetics, offering features aimed at boosting a user’s experience while playing games on their PCs.
Opera GX’s design is heavily influenced by various gaming hardware and peripherals. Razer Chroma, in particular, seems to be a great inspiration. Not only did Opera GX adopt its design, but it also included Razer Chroma support, allowing users to adjust their Razer Chroma lights through the browser. Opera GX also comes with sound effects created by Rubén Rincón and the band Berlinist—both of whom worked on the acclaimed game GRIS. The sound effects play when users hover over games in the GX Corner or use the GX Control.Gaming Features
Opera GX is available for both 32- and 64-bit Windows platforms. Given that the browser is based on Chromium, users can install Chrome extensions without a problem. The GX Control mentioned above is undoubtedly Opera GX’s most useful feature for gamers. Opera GX was designed to allow users to play games while the browser remained open in the background. GX Control lets users limit the amount of resources Opera GX can consume while it is open. Users can allocate a small percentage of RAM and CPU to Opera GX to promise a better gaming experience. The browser also comes with Twitch integration, letting users keep track of channels they follow with more convenience.
Despite its name as a gaming browser and its unique GX Control feature, Opera GX doesn’t exactly affect or improve a game’s performance. Rather, its main selling point is that users can limit the machine resources that interfere with gameplay. That said, its gorgeous design and other gaming features make it a sight to see, even for the non-gamers.
